SA govt procurement law & practice workshop, Midrand Nov 2011

On Tuesday 22 November 2011 the third Tenderscan workshop on South African Government Law & Practice was held at Ambrosia Hall in Midrand, with delegates mainly from Gauteng province and a few from KZN, Eastern Cape and Western Cape.
The 3 law sessions were presented by Mr Brendan Barry (of Cheadle Thompson & Haysom Attorneys Inc), who explained the legal principles applicable to government procurement, and the bidder’s rights before and after the award.  The pitch focused on the needs and concerns of private sector bidders who are not legal experts.  …

What is a tender?

A tender is put out when large-scale buyers advertise their needs and invite bids or tenders from a range of suppliers. Put simply, a tender /bid/request for proposal (RFP) is an offer in writing to carry out work or to supply goods/services at a certain price.
Things to keep in mind when applying for a tender:

Decide whether you can deliver the goods/service required
Take note of the cut off time and submit your tender before the cut off time
Tender only for those contracts that fit your business focus or scope.

Notifications Not Matching Search Criteria

As a subscriber you will see when you set up your notifications.
That in the Manage Account>Notifications option there is a little tick box saying:
“Send notification of tenders not matching search criteria”
What this means is, if ticked, you will get an email stating that no tenders were uploaded in your field of expertise on a certain day.
